چکیده

Fatigue, Abdominal muscle, EMG, co-contraction, loading Background: Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorders. Altered movement patterns in LBP patients can reflect changes in neuromuscular control. Objective: This study aimed to assess trunk muscle electromyographic (EMG) response after trunk extensor muscle fatigue in LBP subjects. Methods: Sixteen patients with chronic non-specific LBP and twenty healthy matched subjects volunteered to participate in this interventional study. EMG activity of trunk muscles was assessed before and after lifting fatigue task in two groups. Multivariate Analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used for statistical analysis. Results: The results were significant for the main effects of fatigue (F=6.64, P <0.05) and interaction of group by fatigue (F=5.34, P <0.05) in lower erector spine muscle activity. Conclusions: Muscular fatigue is not unusual in daily activity and work place. According to the results of the current study, trunk extensor muscles fatigue altered trunk muscles activation in both healthy and CLBP but the alteration was greater in CLBP patients.

The relationship between pain and functional disability with local and global selected trunk muscles activity and comparison the activity of these muscles between men and women with non-specific chronic low back pain

Aims and background: The low back pain is a highly prevalent in all societies, with the majority of people experiencing back pain at least once in their lifetime. If a definite diagnosis of low back pain is not detectable by recent radiological instruments, it is classified as chronic low back pain. This study evaluates the relationship between pain and functional disability with the level of ...

The Effects of Active Therapeutic Exercises on the Electromyographic Activity of Lumbopelvic Muscles during Prone Hip Extension in Patients with Chronic Non-Specific Low Back Pain

Introduction: LBP is one of the most common health issues throughout the world and has multiple causes which one of them is the defect in motor patterns. This study compared the effectiveness of stability, general and mixed exercises on the electromyographic activity of ipsilateral erector spinae muscle (IES), contralateral erector spinae muscle (CES), gluteus maximus (GM) and medial hams...

Activation imbalances in lumbar spine muscles in the presence of chronic low back pain.

Paraspinal electromyographic (EMG) activity was recorded bilaterally from three lumbar levels during 30-s isometric trunk extensions [40 and 80% of maximum voluntary contraction (MVC)] in 20 healthy men and 14 chronic low back pain patients in pain. EMG parameters indicating neuromuscular fatigue and contralateral imbalances in EMG root-mean-square amplitude and median frequency were analyzed. ...

Changes in postural and trunk muscles responses in patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain during sudden upper limb loading

Background: Alterations in the neuromuscular control of the spine were found in patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP). Sudden loading of the spine is assumed to be the cause of approximately 12% of lower back injuries. However, some aspects of this problem, such as alterations in the sensory–motor control of the spine, remain questionable. This study investigated postural and neuro–motor...

Ergonomic Evaluation of Relationship between Electromyographic Activity in Selected Trunk Muscles and Back Discomfort While Working with a Laptop in a Sitting Position

Introduction: Low back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders leading to disability around the world. Several studies have suggested that prolonged computer/ laptop work contributes to the development of low back pain and discomfort. The results of the studies conducted on the association of back discomfort and muscle activity are contradictory. Thus, the present study aims to...
